Can a lawyer put in an amount to an insurance adjustor to try and make a settlement for a personal injury case without first discussing it with the client?
He never even told us the amount, he just put in the offer. We were expecting it to be much higher but it is a very unique case hopefully he knows best. I thought before he put in the amount he should of at least contacted me and let me know what was going on which he never did.

I got a personal injury settlement, but rather then paying the medical bills with it (since it was so low) can i keep the money and file bankrupcy on the medical bills, since i already have to file anyway? Is this legal?

Im in ohio im aloud to keep 20,000 of a personal injury lawsuit i got just about 20,000. My question is can my lawyer take his 30% and give me my part and rather then pay the medical bills can I file bankrupcy on them along with everything else im already going to file on.

I was driving home with 5 year old when a truck hit us in the back while taking an exist. The car hit us 3x (the first struck was in the back) The second was in the side since my car shifted) and (the third was on the same side driver's and my daugther in the back was sitting while pushing us off the ramp) Well, the truck driver stayed driving and never stopped. It was rainy and many cars weren't around. I realized when trying to calm myself and my daugther that the truck driver wasn't stopping. I got my phone called 911 and tried so hard to chase the truck driving even though I could feel the damage in the car. Luckily, because of the rain and slow of traffic, I was able to describe his location and the police met him there. He managed to lie to the state police by saying he didn't see him and he was carrying a big load to even notice. While he got away with a hit and run, his insurance company was planning to get away with more as well, An adjuster came out from their company and tried to say that my damages where damages there previously next to there's. Along with the crap, I retained an attorney. So far he is taking care of everything while I have been seeking treatment for me and my daugther. I have back, neck and knee pain. Plus I bagged my head so hard I can't stop getting constant migrates. My physical therapy is helping and I am part time instead of full time. The accident occurred on 6/15/09. My daugther is also in a lot of pain such as her back and legs. She is also seeking therapy and has a major phobia/anxiety when she gets in any car now. She makes herself throw up and urinates every time she gets in a car. I managed not to miss any work since my work does not accept any lateness and being a single mom, I scarified putting someone else in my daughter's care then myself. Hopefully, after more x rays-muscle spams and tissue strain is healing so as soon as my treatments stop...We are also fighting the property damage (my car) along with this medical/pain and suffering suit. It will take a while especially after all treatment is completed. I am just asking for an estimate of how much do you think this is worth. Thanks for your comments, suggestions and answers. I would just like an estimate....I know thing is actual and calcuated different state to state especially based on injury. The car is 1993 Honda and its a total loss and I would just like an estimate for what you think the settlement may be. Thanks in advance.

After much research I sent a demand letter to my insurance company for an uninsured motorist bodily injury claim. I requested pain and suffering, medical bills, future medical bills and reimbursement for child care, cleaning, mileage, etc. I sent copies of all my medical bill, receipts and a letter from my orthopedic surgeon documenting the permanency of my injury (broken heel). I asked for 10K under my coverage limit and I got a call to pick up the check within two weeks. My question is this : in his letter to me he stated: "Accepting the enclosed payment will not prevent you from requesting payment of additional damages under your policy. If you feel you are entitled to payment of additional damages please contact me immediately." Does this mean my claim is worth more than I thought? I was expecting to be low balled, so I did not follow my instincts to ask for my coverage limits. Also, does this mean he thought my settlement was too low or is this standard practice if coverage limits have not been met? I'm just asking for fair compensation as I still have a long road to recovery ahead of me.

I was driving southbound when a northbound vehicle in the left turning lane smashed into me. I had the right of way seeing that there were no stop signs/lights. My 2 year old son was also in the car and we had a lot of bruising, burns, cuts to face, collarbone, neck, arms, hands chest, abdomen and pelvic region. No broken bones. My car along with the other lady's car were both totaled and my car was completely smashed in with both air bags deployed. The police issued her a ticket. Anyway, when I recently spoke to the adjuster from the other person's insurance company she mentioned something about an injury settlement. Is that normal for them to offer me one in this case? I've never been in an accident before so I'm not sure what to expect but are they gonna compensate an injury settlement for me and my son. How much would that be?

USAA insurance company only wants to give me 00.00 & my daughter 0.00 for our injuries due to their insureds boyfriend who did a burn out in a puddle of water and rear ended me. We hurt our backs and necks but they are somewhat better for the most part. At least a few days a week we still have to deal with some pain, or stiffness, soreness. The adjuster isnt even paying me for my time off from work. What should I do????I know we could get more but I dont want to hire a lawyer, plus I only have until this June 19, 2006 to do something. Help!!! I want to be able to write some sort of letter sounding like I know what I'm talking about.

Allstate has offered me 0,000 as an injury settlement. Almost 3 years ago I was the passenger in an accident where the driver blew a .12 . I sustained lasting injuries to my right (dominant) hand and elbow as well as minor significant head abrasion. The pinky finger on my hand is fused at the last and middle joint and shows significant deformity ( as do most of the fingers to some extent) I have mallet finger on my middle finger and my index finger's top knuckle is fused. I have stiffness in all the joints that do move in that hand. My elbow was gashed open and has a horrible scar as well as loss of range of motion to a small degree. It does hurt if I put even a little weight on it( such as resting my head on my elbow while sitting at a table) I was also out of work for about 4 months and suffered a considerable amount of pain. My health insurance and auto insurance are looking for a combined ,000 reimbursment. I figure since the drivers liabillity insurace tops out at 0,000 and I would be getting back about 0,000 with the insurance reimbursment factored in that leaves them making out with 0,000. Is it worth 30% (lawyers fee) of that 0,000, assuming I would get the max, in hiring a lawyer. I figure that would net me about 0,000, ,000 more but a lot more headache. I had a medical consultation by a hand specialist who said I lost about 41% use of my right arm. I am also still able to work and have adapted to still be able to play violin, guitar, and hockey. I'm not looking to get rich just don't want to get ripped off. thanks for any help.
